Thank you for your interest in fostering with House of Hope! Here is what our current fosters have to say:
So many people say, “I just couldn’t foster. I would keep them all,” or “How can you let them go? Don’t you get attached?”
The alternative is that a dog is killed because no one stepped up. Nearly 8 million shelter animals are senselessly murdered every year. They are dying because they have nowhere to go. Their only crime is that they got a bad human. I feel like I can justify “letting one go” for this reason and I am hoping you will be able to as well.
When I started out fostering I shed plenty of tears – I still do – but we made a difference to that lonely dog and that loving family. At the end of the day that is what really matters, isn’t it? Here is your chance to make that difference. I promise you, you will never regret it.
When people ask me how I can let them all go, I tell them I look at it like I’m dog sitting. They’re with me for a short period of time, and I give them love and attention and care for them, but when their adopters come for them, and we take that Gotcha Day photo, I know I’ve done right by them, and now I have room for the next one.A current HoH foster
